I am a licensed professional counselor who wants to help individuals and couples reach their sex and relationship goals. It can be hard to reach a goal that you may not know of, or know how to get there. I would love to be able to collaborate with you to help you navigate that process towards healthy sexuality and intimacy. Some of the areas I focus on during therapy are sexual addiction, gender issues, LGBTQ identity, and how culture and faith impact sexuality.
One of the reasons I am so interested in this field is because issues with sexuality and intimacy can have such a major impact in the relationship and that can affect our feelings of love and joy. However, often counselors do not address these issues in therapy. It can be very difficult to discuss concerns sex or sexuality, in therapy or in a relationship. Many people have feelings of shame or fear in being able to communicate their needs to their partners. Even as a counselor, my husband and I benefited immensely from seeing a sex therapist who was able to help us strengthen the intimacy in our relationship. Sometimes after being together for awhile, life and other things can get in the way. It can be difficult to try and make changes alone in the relationship, and a sex therapist can bring new perspectives to help you learn what your intimacy and relationship goals are, and how you can achieve them.
